Cookie Policy
Last updated: 15 August 2026
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work correctly and to provide information to site owners.
What we use
ElkTracker uses exactly one cookie:
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
elktracker_session |
Keeps you logged in to the license portal after clicking a magic-link. Also used to store flash messages (e.g. form success notices). | Strictly necessary | 2 hours of inactivity |
Optional cookies (analytics)
We intend to add privacy-friendly analytics (e.g. Plausible or Fathom) to understand how people use the site — page views, referrers, device types. These cookies are only set if you click Accept all on the consent banner. No personal data is shared with advertisers. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site.
What we don't use
- Advertising cookies — we do not serve ads and do not use ad-tracking cookies.
- Third-party social cookies — no Facebook pixel, no Twitter/X widgets, no embedded social scripts.
Strictly necessary cookies
The session cookie is strictly necessary for the license portal to function. Under UK and EU law (PECR / ePrivacy Directive), strictly necessary cookies do not require consent. You cannot opt out of this cookie without losing the ability to log in to the portal.
Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies at any time through your browser settings. Blocking the session cookie will prevent you from using the license portal but has no effect on the rest of the site, which is fully functional without any cookies.
Changes to this policy
If we ever add any cookies beyond the one described above, we will update this page and, if required by law, seek your consent first.
