Slices

Up to 16 slice points per sampler instrument. Each slice marks a frame offset within the sample. Slices are automatically sorted by position.

Manual slice entry

  1. Open the waveform editor (WAVE > on a sampler instrument)
  2. Adjust the START marker to the desired slice position
  3. Navigate to the SLICES row; press A to add a slice at the current START position
  4. A+←→ selects slices; A+↑↓ nudges the selected slice. B removes it.

Autoslice

Navigate to AUTOSLICE > in the right column of the waveform editor and press A to open the modal:

Setting Description
MODE: TRANSIENT Detects drum hits by energy onset. Lower THRESH = more slices; higher = only sharp transients.
MODE: GRID Splits the start..end region into 4, 8, or 16 equal chunks.
APPLY Runs the slicer and writes results (clears existing slices first).

Autoslice places the first slice at the START marker and works within the START..END region. Pushes undo so it is reversible.

Slice playback modes (SLCMOD on instrument)

Mode Behaviour
OFF Slices exist for manual SLC commands only
NOTE Incoming MIDI note selects the slice: root note (SLCRT, default C5) = slice 0, root+1 = slice 1, etc. Voice always plays at neutral pitch regardless of which note was used. Great for mapping a drum kit across a keyboard.
CMD Use SLC xx in phrases to select slices explicitly
